Sustainability

Sustainability is one of the Four promises in The Alemtek Way. For a supplier of wire suspension components, it covers more than the products. It means data you can use in your own reporting, assemblies that last and can be separated at end of life, a safe and fair workplace for our employees, and business conducted responsibly – by us and by our suppliers.

Environment

Documentation for your reporting. The most practical thing we do is supply the data you need for your own reporting. We provide material reports and documentation for REACH, RoHS, SCIP, POP, PFAS and Cradle to Cradle RSL 4.0, along with documented origin of production and raw materials. The documentation maintained under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 is available to customers on request.

  • Energy: Our facility in Nybro runs on 100% renewable electricity.
  • Transport emissions: Transport is our largest direct environmental impact. We consolidate shipments and choose carriers with modern vehicles. In 2025, emissions from all inbound and outbound freight were 23.4 tonnes COâ‚‚e (well-to-wheel), and we climate compensated 100% of them through Atmosfair.
  • Packaging: Kit packing bags are made from high recycled content, and we design packaging to use as little material as possible. We issue EU declarations of conformity for our packaging under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
  • Material use: We design products to minimize production waste, and we specify recycled content in raw materials wherever it does not affect performance. Our environmental requirements in purchasing focus on material selection, product lifespan and recyclability.
  • Waste: We prioritize reuse, then material recycling. Energy recovery is only a last option. Our waste is sorted and recycled by Stena Recycling.
  • Designed to come apart. Our assemblies are designed for long service life and to come apart for material separation at end of life. A gripper releases the wire when you press its pin. So the stainless steel wire can be removed from the gripper, without cutting, and sent to the right recycling stream.

People

  • Correct product information. Our products hold luminaires, panels, signs and artwork above people. Our code of conduct requires that every figure we give for load capacity, safety factor and material is backed by data or testing. We never promise more than the evidence supports.   • Our workplace. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment and victimization. Every employee has an annual development talk, flexible working hours, a wellness allowance and one hour of wellness time per week. We inspect the workplace systematically for fire safety and ergonomics.
  • Speaking up. Employees can report concerns confidentially, also anonymously, through our whistleblowing channel. Nobody who reports a problem in good faith is penalized.
  • Community. We sponsor local sports teams in and around Nybro. Their commitment reflects the community we’re part of, and we’re glad to stand behind it. Nybro municipality is also investing heavily in becoming climate negative. That is not our achievement, but it shapes the infrastructure we operate in and the energy we buy.

Business conduct

Our Code of Conduct sets the minimum requirements for Alemtek and our business partners. It covers:

  • zero tolerance for corruption and bribery
  • fair competition
  • human rights and working conditions in line with ILO conventions, including no forced or child labour
  • conflict minerals
  • sanctions and export controls
  • data protection under GDPR

Sourcing. We source our components from approved suppliers and hold them to the same quality and compliance requirements that apply to our own work. Suppliers are required to comply with our Code of Conduct or demonstrate equivalent standards. Every supplier is evaluated every year under our purchasing policy. They must document compliance with REACH, RoHS and the POPs Regulation, and may not change material, surface treatment, design, sub-supplier or manufacturing process without our written approval. Origin is documented for every article.

Long-term ownership. Alemtek has been a family business since it was founded in Nybro in 2000 and is now run by the second generation.
